Frequently asked questions
No, as a private service, we accept self-referrals.
The cost of therapy depends on the type of session you require and your payment preference. Individual sessions start at £90 and last 50 minutes, while couples sessions start at £120 and last 60 minutes. You have the flexibility to pay as you go, or you can choose a bundle option for greater value on your sessions.
We do not work with insurance companies directly. However, some clients using Psychology UK choose to pay for sessions upfront and then use the invoices provided to claim the fees back from their insurance provider. We recommend confirming this option with your insurance provider before booking a session.
Psychology UK may be right for you if you are looking for support with mental health difficulties, want to make positive changes, or wish to improve the quality of your life. Our therapists support a wide range of issues, including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, addictions, self-esteem, sleep issues, trauma, anger management, grief, and more.
Psychology UK is not suitable for you if:
• You are in an urgent crisis and require immediate support
• You do not have a device that can connect to the internet or a reliable internet connection
Our therapists include psychotherapists, counsellors, and clinical and counselling psychologists, all accredited by the UK's leading awarding bodies (BACP, UKCP, and HCPC).
After you fill out the assessment form, we will connect you with a therapist who specialises in your needs and fits your preferences. Different therapists use various approaches that work best for different types of conditions and mental health needs, so it's important to find the right specialist for you. Our matching process is designed to help you find a therapist who best suits your situation, but you can always request to be matched with a different therapist if needed.
In most cases, you will be connected with a therapist within 48 hours or less, depending on your availability and preferences for therapy.
All sessions take place online via video calls, giving you the flexibility to receive expert support from anywhere, at times that suit your schedule.
The number of sessions you need will depend on your individual requirements. Some clients benefit from just a few sessions, while others choose to continue therapy on an ongoing basis. During your first session, your therapist will help determine the number of sessions required based on your specific needs and therapy goals.
Therapy sessions typically take place once a week at the same time, based on the availability you provide. Regular weekly scheduling ensures you won't have to worry about when your session is or forget what you've been working on, helping you to maintain consistent progress. Sessions last 50 minutes for individual therapy and 60 minutes for couples therapy.
We offer flexible scheduling to accommodate your needs. You can cancel or reschedule up to 48 hours before the session. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the scheduled time will not be refunded.
Yes, your privacy is our top priority. All disclosures are confidential within our service, except in cases where there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others, or a threat of terrorism.
Many studies have shown that online therapy is highly effective. For example, research from Cambridge University by Porter, Galloghly, and Burbach (2022) found that online therapy is just as effective as traditional in-person therapy. The study also highlights that the flexibility of online therapy enhances accessibility by eliminating barriers such as travel time and scheduling conflicts. These findings confirm that online therapy is a reliable and versatile option for high-quality mental health care.
